Dr. Susan La Flesche Picotte Center Awarded $50k In Grant Funds

The National Trust for Historic Preservation Telling the Full History Preservation Fund announced its award of $50,000 to Dr. Susan La Flesche Picotte Center in Walthill for its Tribal Youth Voices Matter Project.  Only 80 of these grants are given to select organizations nationwide whose projects help preserve, interpret and activate historic places to tell the stories of underrepresented groups in our nation.

Heartland Hope Mission will be having a Community Food and Diaper Distribution Wednesday, April 20, 2022.

  • Macy, 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM, Prevention & Wellness Center Parking Lot
  • Walthill, 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM, Legion Hall (103 S Costello St)

Diapers, baby formula, & hygiene items available!  All community members are welcome!

Open Burning Ban in Effect

Per Village Code, Section 8-404:  Open Burning Ban;  Waiver;  Permit

A.  There shall be a statewide open burning ban on all bonfires, outdoor rubbish fires, and fires for the purpose of clearing land.

- $100 fine through Tribal Court;  no minimum with a $500 maximum through Thurston County

- Outdoor rubbish fires includes the burning of leaves, limbs, trees, or any type of trash - to be frank, just don't burn anything!
