The purpose of the Planning Commission is to recommend boundaries of the various original districts and appropriate regulations to be enforced therein.  They are also responsible for making a preliminary report and hold public hearings thereon before submitting its final report, and the Village Board is not able to hold its public hearings or take action until it has received the final report of the Planning Commission.

The Planning Commission, with the assistance of Hanna: Keelan Associates, P.C., prepared a comprehensive development plan and a zoning ordinance for the Village of Walthill.  On April 14, 2014, the Village Board of Trustees passed Resolution #2014-5, which adopted the comprehensive development plan, and passed Ordinance #2014-5, which adopted the zoning ordinance.
